Fundraiser

We are fundraising for Breast Cancer Ireland on 22 May.

My friend Pat was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2021. Prior to that she was cycling, playing tennis and feeling fine. She is fit, strong and healthy so a breast cancer diagnosis came as a huge shock. From day one her attitude was positive. Treatment would take a year, she would get better, she would get her life back, simple as !

Pat made light of what she was going through. Surgery is scary but Pat's attitude was "sure I'll be home in a few days" - another box on the list ticked. Chemotherapy is by all accounts gruelling but the only sign of that was when Pat cancelled yoga saying that she was a bit tired.

Her surgery was on 9 December and she was back on her bike on 27 December - that says it all really.

She used yoga to great effect. Her favourite type of yoga is strong and physical. How was I going to get her to lie still on a bolster ? But Pat embraced a restorative practice. She knew that's what her body needed. Now that she is getting back to normal the bolster is gathering dust and its all about legs, hamstrings, shoulders...... whatever is going to help with her next Malin to Mizen cycle.

Pat has been an inspiration, all the Stillorgan yogis love her and we're very happy to be able to support her fundraiser.
